Introduction

From 1964 until 1971 Johannes Brus studied at the famous Staatliche Kunstakademie of Düsseldorf, Germany; from 1986 until 2007 he was Professor of Sculpture at the Hochschule für Bildende Künste of Braunschweig, Germany. Johannes Brus made exhibitions a.o. at the Städtische Kunsthalle Mannheim (2002), Städtisches Museum Abteiberg, Mönchengladbach (2004), the Gerhard Marcks Haus, Bremen (2006) and the Museum Kunst Palast in Düsseldorf (2009).

Johannes Brus made a solo show for Deweer Art Gallery in 1985. Works of Johannes Brus were further selected for the group show ‘New German Sculpture’ (1986, Deweer Gallery & ICC – Internationaal Cultureel Centrum, Antwerp, Belgium).

Sculptures by Johannes Brus are permanently installed in the public space of the cities of Detmold, Essen, Karlsruhe, Lingen, Nagold, Nuremburg, Pforzheim and Uelzen, Germany.
